Mission Statement: The School of Business provides an environment that promotes student learning in the field of business within a caring Christian community. The educational experience in the School of Business is focused on providing students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical principles to assume leadership positions in their workplaces, communities, and the global business environment.
The school offers degrees in business administration with concentrations in accounting, computer information systems, finance, international business, management/marketing, and workforce training and management. Students may choose from three degree options: Bachelor of Science in Business (B.S.B.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.), and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). Concentrations in accounting, computer information systems, finance, international business, and management/marketing are offered on the Hattiesburg campus. Concentrations in computer information systems, marketing/management, and workforce training and management are offered on the Tradition campus.
The school also offers two unique degree plans - Bachelor of Science in Business in cross-cultural business management and a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in supervisory management. The cross-cultural business management program is jointly offered with the Department of Intercultural Studies, is conferred by the School of Business, and combines courses in business and intercultural studies to meet the need for entrepreneurial mission work. Students will be equipped with the necessary business skills to enter the private sector as well as with the theological, missiological, and cultural knowledge necessary to be a career missionary. The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in supervisory management is tailored for students who have an earned Associate of Applied Science in a technical field of study. The B.A.S. combines the general education courses and technical courses completed at the associate-level with supervisory management courses to prepare students for career advancement in a variety of business and technical fields.
Professional Licensure Disclosure: The business administration degree with a concentration in accounting provides students the accounting education required for careers as professional accountants in financial institutions, government, industry, nonprofit organizations, and public practice. The degree meets the educational requirements for those desiring to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in Mississippi. The program does not meet the licensure standards of any other state.
Accreditation: The School of Business at William Carey University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the international Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.
