Program Overview
William Carey University is uniquely positioned to offer a PhD in Neurodiverse Studies, leveraging the strengths of its existing programs in medicine, nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, psychology, and education. This interdisciplinary framework creates an ideal environment for advancing research and professional practice in the growing field of neurodiversity. By drawing from the collective expertise of these diverse disciplines, the program fosters a comprehensive and collaborative approach to understanding and supporting individuals with neurodiverse conditions. This PhD program is fully online and will offer professionals a unique platform to deepen their knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of neurodiverse studies. Program Admission Requirements
- Complete an online application Apply to Carey through Graduate Admissions
- Submit all official transcripts electronically to Graduate Admissions
- Hold a master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with the following conditions:
- Students with a master’s degree will complete the prescribed program.
- Students holding a Specialists in Education (Ed.S.) in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders from WCU may have the specialist degree accepted in its entirety toward the PhD. Students would complete the remainder of the doctoral requirements.
- Have a graduate GPA > 3.25 in the highest graduate degree obtained.
- Submit two recommendations from present or previous supervisors.
- Submit a current resume that includes your leadership experience and community service and career goals.
- Complete an interview with the program admissions committee.
- Submit a writing sample using the writing prompts provided in the application.
Transfer Credit Students may transfer six hours of approved coursework from an institution that is fully accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Coursework used in a previous degree may not be used toward the doctorate. Program Progression and Graduation Requirements
