Program Overview
The Special Education Administration Certificate equips leaders with the practical skills to navigate the challenges of supporting students with disabilities. This 9-hour professional credential strengthens resumes and prepares administrators for high-level decision-making roles across districts and intermediate units. While it does not provide state licensure, it serves as a powerful tool for those pursuing advanced leadership in special education. Designed for working professionals, this fully online program begins each summer and concludes by the end of fall. The curriculum is delivered asynchronously through Canvas with no required live meetings to ensure maximum flexibility. This streamlined format allows educators to balance their careers while gaining the expertise needed to improve student outcomes. Program Admission Requirements
Admission to the certificate program requires that an applicant must: - Hold a bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Have a cumulative GPA > 2.5 on the last 64 hours of undergraduate work or a cumulative GPA > 2.5 for the bachelor’s degree.
- Hold a current teacher’s license with Mild/Moderate K-12 or comparable license in a related field.
- Provide a brief statement of intent of reasons why the student wants to complete graduate work in this field with immediate and long-range objectives.
