Program Overview
Designed for educators with the M.Ed. degree, the Specialist in Instructional Leadership is a 30-hour, fully online program specifically focused on awarding the 481 Teacher Leader endorsement and AAA teacher certification. While this pathway does not lead to administrator licensure, it equips candidates with the specialized knowledge to navigate complex educational issues and lead from the classroom through instructional coaching and peer mentorship. - Complete an online application Apply to Carey Graduate Admissions.
- Submit all official transcripts electronically to Graduate Admissions
- Have a GPA > 3.25 in a related master’s program.
- Hold a master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Submit two reference forms from present or previous administrators who have supervised your work.
- Hold or qualify to hold a teacher’s license (provide a copy) or sign a waiver of certification form
Transfer Credit Students may transfer six hours of approved coursework from an institution that is fully accredited by a recognized accrediting agency and aligns with our curriculum. Coursework used in a previous degree may not be used toward the specialist degree. Program Progression Requirements
- Students must maintain a GPA > 3.0 with no grade less than a ‘C’ and must complete all requirements within six years of admission into the program.

- Students move through the program in cohorts.
