William Carey University offers bachelor’s degree programs leading to licensure as highly qualified elementary or secondary teachers in a variety of concentration areas. The university is approved by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) as an Educator Preparation Provider (EPP), ensuring that all teacher education programs meet state standards for curriculum, field experiences, assessment, and candidate performance.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction provides a comprehensive and rigorous program of study designed to prepare teacher candidates to work effectively with learners from diverse academic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Coursework emphasizes evidence-based instructional strategies, assessment literacy, curriculum design, and professional practice. Extensive, developmentally sequenced field experiences are integrated throughout the program to support the application of theory to real classroom settings and to promote preparedness for professional licensure and entry into the teaching profession.
