Program Overview
The higher education administration program prepares students for positions in four-year, community and technical colleges, and universities. Students interested in careers as future higher education administrators receive a comprehensive program of study that explores academic, student, and administrative affairs. Courses offered in the program develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for success in higher education administration. Classes are offered in a combination of in-person, online, and hybrid formats, making it ideal for the working student who wants to take their education to the next level. William Carey uses Canvas as the learning management system for online coursework. Program Admission Requirements
Students can be admitted to the specialist in higher education administration program each term if the student meets the admission requirements. No student will be admitted on a provisional or probationary basis. To fulfill requirements for admission to the specialist in higher education administration degree program, the student must: - Complete an online application Apply to Carey through Graduate Admissions
- Submit all official transcripts electronically to Graduate Admissions
- Have a GPA > 3.25 in a graduate program
- Hold a master’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university..
- Complete the interview and writing components of the admission process.
Transfer Credit Students may transfer six hours of approved coursework from an institution that is fully accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Coursework used in a previous degree may not be used toward the specialist degree. Program Progression and Graduation Requirements
- Students must maintain a GPA > 3.0 with no grade less than a ‘C’ and must complete all requirements within six years of admission into the program.
- Refer to the Academic Regulations section in this catalog for program progression and graduation requirements.
- Students move through the program in cohorts.
