Program Overview


The mission of the Master of Education in teaching and learning globally is to prepare educators to be confident, caring, and reflective educators and facility coordinators, who become change agents for positively impacting students’ lives socially, physically, emotionally, and academically.

This degree does not lead to any type of teaching license in the State of Mississippi.

 

Program Admission Requirements


Each applicant must:

  • Complete an online application Apply to Carey through Graduate Admissions
  • Submit all official transcripts electronically to Graduate Admissions
  • Have a GPA > 2.5 for the last 64 hours of undergraduate work or a cumulative GPA > 2.5
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Have not taken more than 12 credit hours of graduate courses at WCU.
  • Submit a memorandum of understanding (MOU) stating that the TLG degree will NOT lead to a teaching license before registering for classes.

Transfer Credit

A maximum of six hours of graduate credit may be transferred from another accredited institution. All transfer courses must be approved prior to degree application.

Program Progression Requirements


  • Students must maintain a GPA > 3.0 with no grade less than a ‘C’ and must complete all requirements within six years of admission into the program.
  • Refer to the Academic Regulations section in this catalog for program progression and graduation requirements.

Program of Study (30 hrs)


The academic requirements for a Master of Education in teaching and learning globally consist of 30 credit hours from three categories: (1) professional education, (2) teaching and learning professional, and (3) global professional. Teaching and learning professional courses and global professional courses may be selected from specialized concentrations and electives, with advisor approval.
