Program Overview
The Special Education Administration Certificate prepares current and future administrators with the skill set to address the educational needs and real-world challenges of students with disabilities. With this certificate, professionals are prepared to pursue administrative positions with active roles in decision-making to help facilitate positive outcomes for students with special needs in their schools, districts, intermediate units, or other related areas.
Cohorts begin each fall and spring trimester with students being able to complete the certificate (9 hours) within 15-20 weeks. The fully online certificate is delivered via William Carey’s learning management system Canvas and designed to be flexible with no synchronous meetings.
Graduate Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate the skillset to address the educational needs and real-world challenges of students with disabilities.
- Students will be prepared to pursue administrative positions with active roles in decision-making to help facilitate positive outcomes for students with special needs in their schools, districts, intermediate units, or other related areas.
Program Admission Requirements
Admission to the certificate program requires that an applicant must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Have a cumulative GPA > 2.5 on the last 64 hours of undergraduate work or a cumulative GPA > 2.5 for the bachelor’s degree.
- Hold a current teacher’s license with Mild/Moderate K-12 or comparable license in a related field.
- Provide a brief statement of intent of reasons why the student wants to complete graduate work in this field with immediate and long-range objectives.
