The Department of Christian Studies equips students for leadership roles in various areas of Christian ministry. The department offers a degree in Christian Studies as well as a minor in Christian Studies and a minor in Philosophy.
The mission of the Christian Studies degree is to: 1) inform and enrich every student’s understanding of the Judeo-Christian historical, literary, and theological heritage; 2) train students in faithful exegetical and theological communication and application of Biblical truth; 3) instruct undergraduate Christian Studies majors from a liberal arts perspective to prepare students for graduate level study; and 4) prepare students for Christian ministry and service.
The Christian Studies degree is offered as a Bachelor of Arts and as a Bachelor of Science. Both degree options require 120 credit hours and a minor or a second major.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program of study, graduates will be able to demonstrate:
- an understanding of the Judeo-Christian historical, literary, and theological heritage;
- proficiency in utilizing critical research and writing skills relevant the discipline of biblical hermeneutics;
- proficiency in effectively defining key theological terms;
- proper hermeneutical and exegetical skills in the written and verbal communication of scripture; and
- a high level of ministry competency, knowledge, and preparedness.
