MBS 6240 - Human Genetics3 hrs An introduction to human genetics for medical students and adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Association of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics. These guidelines are designed to provide medical students with an in-depth understanding of the principles of genetics and genomics, from basic science to clinical application. Students will acquire an understanding of the genetic basis of life and its immediate importance to humans, individually and in society. The course addresses topics in biochemical genetics, molecular genetics, cytogenetics, population genetics, pharmacogenetics, cancer genetics, and genetic counseling.
