Health Administration and Education (HAE), BS
The Bachelor of Science in Health Administration and Education combines administration and education courses in a healthcare curriculum to allow degree completion and career advancement for the student with an associate degree in a health- related field, or who holds a certificate, is registered, or licensed in a health-related field. The degree provides the graduate with a sound foundation to enter the health industry, or the academic environment. The curriculum places emphasis on the foundational skills needed in the development of managers, educators, and administrators in a variety of healthcare settings.
Graduates will be prepared to educate entry-level practitioners as well as function as leaders and managers in a variety of health-related areas including businesses, government and volunteer agencies, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and industry. The degree provides the graduate with the ability to advance to higher degrees in education, business, and administration.
This 120-hour program is offered online and admits students in the fall and spring terms only. Students who hold an associate’s degree in a health-related field that led to a certification, registry, or license may receive up to 27 hours of elective credit based on a review of the curriculum that provided certification, registry, or license.
Program Admission Requirements
- Prospective students for the health administration and education program must meet the following requirements:
- Hold an associate degree in a health-related field or be certified, registered, or licensed in a health-related field; Be in good standing at William Carey University with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50;
- Evidence of a clear criminal background check; and
- Evidence of a negative drug screen prior to participating in practicum.
Program Progression Requirements
- Students must achieve a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each course within the General Education Curriculum and the Program Curriculum (see degree plan).
- Students may repeat a maximum of three HAE courses two times only, for a total of six repeats.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Professions
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Professions degree is designed to prepare students with foundational healthcare knowledge for educational pathways into baccalaureate-required allied health professions. Advanced courses required by specific allied health education programs will build a foundation on the university core courses for students to meet required admission standards of allied health programs requiring a baccalaureate degree.
This 120-hour program is offered online and admits students in the fall and spring terms only. Students who hold an associate’s degree in a health-related field that led to a certification, registry, or license may receive up to 30 hours of elective credit based on a review of the curriculum that provided certification, registry, or license.
Program Admission Requirements
- Submission of a completed application to William Carey University
- Must be in good standing at William Carey University and have a cumulative grade point average ≥ 2.75
- Must have a minimum grade of C in all transfer courses
- Submit the completed and notarized criminal background check affidavit
- Evidence of a negative drug screen prior to participating in a practicum course
Program Progression Requirements
Students in the Health Professions program are required to maintain a GPA ≥ 2.5 on Health Professions major courses.
- Any courses with a grade of D or F must be repeated.
- Major core courses may be repeated twice to achieve a minimum grade of C.
- No more than three individual courses may be repeated.
