The mission of the Cooper School of Missions and Ministry Studies is: 1) to offer students opportunity to study the Bible and associated disciplines in their historical, literary, and theological contexts, 2) to prepare students for missions or ministry in any setting whether in a local church or a multicultural or cross-cultural context, 3) to prepare students for graduate level study, and 4) to collaborate with churches and denominational agencies to advance the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
Department of Christian Ministry and Biblical Studies
The Department of Christian Ministries equips and prepares students for leadership roles in various areas of Christian ministry. Students may pursue a B.S. or B.A. degree with majors in intercultural studies and Christian ministry or a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies. In cooperation with the School of Business, students may also choose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business (B.S.B.) in cross-cultural business management.
In addition, the Department of Christian Ministries also offers minors in the following areas: Biblical languages, Biblical studies, Christian ministry, and philosophy.
Specializations in the following areas may be earned by taking 18-24 credit-hours: apologetics, expository preaching, church planting, children’s ministry, youth ministry, or adult ministry. To plan a course of study which includes one of these specializations, see the Chair of the Department of Christian Ministry and Biblical Studies.

Department of Intercultural Studies
The mission of the Intercultural Studies major of 33 semester hours of coursework seeks: 1) articulate the importance of the Great Commission mandate to make disciples of all nations, 2) expose students to various cultures for the purpose of developing a caring sensitivity for all people groups, 3) integrate knowledge and skills across a missiological framework of theology, history, culture, and strategy to develop effective missions paradigms in diverse settings, 4) equip students with the skills to enter, understand, work, and minister in a cross-cultural context.
Intercultural Studies majors may pursue either the B.A. or the B.S. degree. Students are encouraged to take a double major or minor in business, communication, education, a health profession, or another area that prepares graduates to be culturally competent marketplace professionals and missionaries in an increasingly multi-cultural world.
