GER 4800 - Practicum in Gerontology 3 hrs
Students are prepared for the basic functions and duties of an activity professional: design, deliver, and evaluate activity services for older adults across the continuum of care. Students are supervised by a certified activity director in a nursing facility. This course satisfies the educational requirements for MEPAP-I (Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals in Gerontology - Part I) and is the requirement for state certification as a nursing home activities director as set forth by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP). Field Experience Requirement: 50 hrs Prerequisite(s): GER 3700 or Permission of instructor Repeatable For Credit: Up to 6hrs
